Welcome to Good news cluster Miereni, a product of affiliation between the Kenya government and the world vision international organization. the initiative is aimed at dividing localities into small manageable organizational structures for seamless project identifications and executions.
Miereni in Mahoo Ward is part of 5 wards forming Taveta constituency of the greater Taita Taveta county it is located South east of Taveta municipality and straddled by two main seasonal rivers crisscrossing the Taveta landscape from the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro. There are 3 main clusters in Miereni namely (Good news, Greenland and Umoja) Good news has a total of 40 households.
This includes individual household registration of occupying individuals, naming of major streets and sub streets in good news cluster and giving each household an identification under the designation (GNXX)
This includes overnight patrols and installation of autonomous solar lighting and standalone network based street cameras on each major street in good news cluster and Miereni village.
This includes the already established wells in good news cluster to have an agreement with the well owners so that each household can be supplied with enough water to grow high value and subsistence crops to alleviate food insecurity.
This project aims to establish a 150 solar panels power plant to supply electricity to each of the 120 households in miereni village in 3 phases according to the 3 miereni clusters.
This project will involve clearing all major streets from bushes and utilizing the already installed but defunct railway bridges as foot bridges during heavy rains and flooding
These include new varieties of coconuts and banana strains
